  • One More Blog: Week of 08/18/2024

    Hello photographers!

Welcome to another week of One More Blog! My name is Owl Eye and I’m very excited to be back with the blog team. I’ve enjoyed following the growing number of contributors and seeing a snippet into what catches their eye. From the past week I’ve selected six Gems from what turned into a very productive and worthy week of examples. I encourage you to check out all the members galleries over the past week as I’m sure you’ll agree that One More Stop has a talented collective of members. 🙂

    Let’s begin!

    Gallery Gems

Posted by Ylli in the gallery thread “man, i love eastern europe”.

Ylli shares with us this week a wonderful photo of the National Library of Kosovo. While originally founded in the town of Prizren in 1944, the library was moved in 1982 to this unique building in the city of Pristina, the capital of Kosovo. Croatian architect Andrija Mutnjaković layered the metal “fishing net” over the cubical spaces with domed tops (numbering a total of 99). Two reading rooms of 400 seats total along with an amphitheater and enough room for two million volumes. I encourage you to look into this unique work of art some more. Ylli has done wonders for capturing the emotional impact that must be felt standing in its presence.

You can find more of Ylli’s work in his gallery below:

Posted by bluesquares in the gallery thread “Walked in the Woods”

bluesquares took a walk in the woods and came upon some very interesting detail. I’ve personally enjoyed taking photos of plants at this stage of their journey to embrace the full return of the life cycle. Met with wonderful lighting and a dreamily shallow depth of field my eye was captivated for a quite a while.

You can find more of bluesquare’s woodsy trek below:

Posted by Zantanimus in the gallery thread “Ripples & Roses & Rabbits”

The rabbit is one to always catch my eye. Something about the nature of time always seems to flow through to me when I find them in the wild. Zantanimus created a whimsical world of intrigue as I image the bunny going about their busy day among the roses. Which photos stand out to you in their gallery or Instagram?

Posted by davesunday in the gallery thread “Lomo Turquoise”

Imagining another world, or maybe what this world would look like if our minds rendered wavelengths of light differently than they currently do is something I’m always keen to spend some time on. In this set of Lomo Turquoise photographs, davesunday allows the mind to explore spaces unknown with shifted color chemistry.

Posted by Fabri in the gallery thread “panoramic western ireland”

This soft, ethereal setting in Ireland brings forth a stillness within and Fabri has captured a perfect moment in time. Through the collection of panoramic photos you’re transported to the Irish countryside for a few moments.

Make sure to follow Fabri on Instagram:

Posted by Taury in the gallery thread “Dre”.

Wrapping up this week’s gallery gems we have Taury once more with a great studio portrait set, something we don’t see much of in the galleries. While last week was devoted to the large format black and white process of capture, this week they bring us color in the digital realm with the Fuji X-Pro2. High-key and low-key portraits are incredibly captivating and I’m always eager to share an intimate setting photo such as found in this gallery.

    Holga vs. Diana

Posted by Lithe in the “Holga vs Diana” channel.

While the epic battle rages on between the two iconic film cameras, Lithe has been busy creating unique ways of printing such as this gem.

Check out what else Lithe has been direct printing on in the Holga vs Diana channel:

    The Postcard Project

Postcard from davesunday posted by Ben in the “The Postcard Project”

Ben shares this postcard they received from davesunday.

The collaboration of mailing postcards around the world from our incredible community of photographers is just about wrapping up with some late entries sneaking through, and just as I settle enough to honor a promise made to a member to get a postcard mailed off to them. Thanks for your patience, Ben!

Check out the finishing touches to the project below:

As we close out another week, I wish to thank the One More Stop community for their support and education since joining. The safe, diverse, and inclusive environment has helped me to grow as a person, and as an artist. I am thankful for every member who shares their stories through their artwork and passes along their bits of knowledge and education to me. My hope is that this collective continues to offer a space for artists to engage and expand their talents long into the future and I hope to bring as much as I can to that mission as well. Enjoy the new week and we will see you next time at One More Blog!

  • One More Blog: Week of 08/11/2024

Happy Sunday collaborators, it’s Lunar and I am so excited to be writing again! With all of the writers we have now I feel like I never write anymore. But all of the different opinions and styles have been great for the blog! That being said, let’s head forward into the week’s photos!

    Gallery Gems

A color photo of planes with exhaust smoke flying upside down against clouds and blue sky
Posted by dc5 | IG: mjeffv2 in the gallery thread “Blue Angles

I don’t usually like plane photos but something about this one stood out to me, maybe it’s the contrast of the sky and clouds, with the planes  matching the color of the sky so well. Either way I think it was very well done and you should look at dc5’s Instagram for more hits!

A black and white portrait photo of a man with glasses and a goatee
Posted by Taury | IG: @t0ry77 in the gallery thread “8.10.2024 11.50am

Taury posted this lovely portrait, with a great tone and a super shallow depth of field, and I fell in love with it! It is lit so well, and really blends a modern aesthetic with a classic looking style of photography. Taury’s Instagram is linked below, and you’ll find more impressive photos there.

A black and white photo of a paddle over the water, with a ripple beneath
Posted by Nina in the gallery thread “Pixel 3a

Another instance that I love to be able to show, the camera does not make neither the photo or the photographer. Taken on a phone camera, the Pixel 3a, this photo is stunning, and any hardware it was taken with wouldn’t have changed that fact. Nina shows that the best camera in any situation is the one you have with you. Check out their Instagram below!

    Holga VS Diana

    Managed by Ezo

A long exposure photo of a subway tunnel
Posted by schnee in the gallery thread “First Diana Roll

Coming in hot for team Diana, schnee is rocking his first Diana roll. The subway tube looks incredible in this long exposure, and the blurring gives it such a surreal effect. Please take a look at schnee’s other work in the Discord!

Posted by Ezo in the gallery thread “Sunflowers to the City a Holga Story

Atmosphere is here in force in this photo, with Ezo coming in hot for team Holga. The statue is ominous with the scant lighting, and the cranked grain really says a lot about the deep dark. Please check out the Holga VS Diana Discord threads, and Ezo’s Threads account as well!

Another week come and gone, but another week I find myself filled with joy about our community and the conversations and work we produce.

    Full of admiration,
    Lunar

Please take a look at my Threads for more of my work and other nonsense!

  • One More Blog: Week of 8/4/2024

Hello Photography Friends! The latest server photo and our featured image is from Lampy in the gallery “Tampering -Early Stages“. It’s been a busy week here at OneMoreStop so let’s move forward highlighting a small selection of gallery greats!

    Gallery Gems

Posted by NimbleDave in the gallery thread “Silver City, New Mexico

NimbleDave made a visit to Silver City to attend an opening his work is in, and managed to carve out some street stops. This particular photo is imposing. It fills the frame, edge-to-edge, bulging out from the top. It’s grandeur cannot be contained–about to burst.

Posted by the_abecedarian in the gallery thread “Chicago Streets Summer 2024

From suits to shirtless, this entire series by the_abecedarian is excellent. The dichotomy in this image is quite striking.

Posted by devanopolis in the gallery thread “First photo in months

devanopolis has been having a hard time getting out to shoot. This is something that we all go through at some point, and no matter how you’re feeling before you go–you can still definitely get a banger like you see above here.

Posted by Dawson Leary in the Aug 2nd, 2024 gallery

While it’s been said a picture is worth a thousand words (the reality is probably closer to 262) what Dawson Leary did this week was pair his set with a poem. Specifically, “Lamium” by Louise Glück. Try reading the poem then viewing the photos, and then reading the poem again.

“This is how you live when you have a cold heart.
As I do: in shadows, trailing over cool rock,
    under the great maple trees.”

Posted by dc5 | IG: mjeffv2 in the gallery thread “Macro Garden

Up close, revealing more of the world. Bright primary colors. Phenomenal gallery by dc5 that’s really worthy of your time. Tales and mysteries within each frame.

Posted by Gardamis in the gallery Diptychs in New Orleans

From the first roll of Ilford Delta 100 in the half-frame Olympus EES-2 that Gardamis took. The lab scanned them as diptychs as requested, The results are an excellent series of pairings!

Posted by TR.photo in the gallery.

Every shot in this gallery brings gravitas and drama. Cinematic.

The battle between the superior Diana camera and the Holga continues. A great many competitors have already thrown their first gauntlets and galleries out, and the aesthetic upgrades are being added. Be sure to check it out for yourself in the collaboration thread below!

That’s all for this week. Thanks for stopping by and taking a peek at this week’s blog. Make sure to stop by next week for another batch of amazing photos.

    Gallery Gems

Posted by praetor | z6/d200/fg20 in the gallery thread “speed and power

Next up is a photo from an airshow. The detail in this shot really impressed me since the jet is traveling at such high speed. Catching the moment the vapor built up on the wings really made this one extra special.

Posted by Dave M in the gallery thread “Rural Ramblin’

Shot on Harman Phoenix, this photo really stood out with it’s subtlety and perfectly centered subject. The blues of this film stock are definitely one of it’s strong suits.

Posted by Mymmy in the gallery thread “Midnight Fog

I absolutely love the cozy and mysterious feel of this photo. My eyes are drawn to the in focus grass then are led by the lights to the distant silhouette of trees.

Posted by lil uzi introvert in the Lomo Purple channel

An excellent example of the different values and color Lomo purple is capable of. The inversion of the image really changes the weight and makes the plants in the water seem as if they are floating in the sky.

Posted by Gardamis in the gallery thread “Parish Project

Here we have a great symmetrical image from one of our newest members. The leading lines of the bridges leads the eyes directly to the center to the the almost hidden but yet perfectly framed boat. It definitely gives this photo a harmonious feel to it.

Posted by colten.photo in the Photography channel

I love the sharpness of the detail and the depth of color in this image. Having the trail and the mountains leading to the sunrise really help to add strength to the composition.

Posted by Dave M in the collaboration thread “Holga vs. Diana: Main Chat

Here we have one of the most bizarre and interesting results to come out of our Holga and Diana collaboration. Shot on a Diana, Dave M has managed to roll up two different 35mm films onto a 120 spool. And as if that wasn’t enough, they have stitched multiple images into one cohesive picture.

That’s all for this week. Thanks for stopping by and taking a peek at this week’s blog. Make sure to stop by next week for another batch of amazing photos. Also, if you aren’t in the One More Stop Discord server already, come on in and take a look around and share some photos.

  • One More Blog: Week of 07/21/2024

July is nearly finished and I’m melting every day. Can it hurry up and be winter? This week I’m exploring some new and exciting photos I found in the galleries. Complicated trichromes, surreal Instax, and drippy long exposures await you, our loyal readers. So put on some Mono, grab a relaxing beverage, and let’s get into what caught my eye this week.

    Gallery Gems

Posted by TomB747 in the gallery thread “First Try at Infrared Trichrome 🙂

Knowing just how difficult trichromes are to do well, I was really impressed with Tom’s work here. Knowing that he achieved it with infrared makes me even more impressed. The technical aspects of trichromes can be obnoxious at the best of time, but managing to capture such a lovely composition at the same time is really impressive. I like how Tom balanced the softness of the clouds with the hardness of a stone building. The rest of the gallery is pretty impressive so I recommend checking it out.

Posted by blue squares in the gallery thread “Exploring the Empty Fairgrounds

This whole gallery is a really great exploration in the use of perspective and cropped subjects to create interesting compositions. I chose this specific example because no matter how long I look at it, I can’t decide if this is a megalith or some weird stuff on the ground. I love it. I love the confusion of it. The rest of the gallery is full of gems so hit the link below.

Posted by Taury in the gallery thread “7.20.2024 Fuji Provia

Taury hit some very special buttons for me here. First, large format. Second, long exposure. Third, Provia. Slide film is special, ask anyone who’s ever shot with it. The colors and blacks are always really special. Taking advantage of the way slide film tenders and creating this fantastic long exposure that really plays to slide film’s strengths was a really smart move. The blacks are deep and the colors are bright. The balance between red, white, and that purple sky really get to me. Taury also posted a great portrait taken on the same film so make sure to check out the gallery and Instagram.

Posted by Elle-Oat in the gallery thread “Diana Instant at Band Practice

Elle is one of our members participating in the Ugly Beautiful Vol 2: Holga vs. Diana collaboration. Playing for Team Diana, Elle is rocking an instant version of the camera that takes Instax film. Elle has been putting out a lot of great work so far, and we featured their work as part of the collaboration last week as well. This week this portrait of a mysterious masked person really caught my eye. I love the red mask and the anachronistic cartoon eyes behind the glasses. Just a really fantastic photo. Check their Instagram and gallery for more!

Posted by hosssu in the gallery thread “Some shots around Helsinki. Kodak Gold & Portra 800 with Nikon F3

Hosssu just joined the server but joined with quite a bang! This set of images is so vibrant and brilliant you almost forget that they’re seemingly devoid of life. But instead of being filled with people, they’re filled with color and light. I chose this image because it’s the diagonal line created by the roof of this building and the complementary colors. I think this is a spectacular composition and I can’t wait to see more from hosssu.

Welcome to our mid-July server wrap-up, I’m Lunar, and I absolutely adored the photos posted in the server this week. People are choosing sides on an eternal battleground, creativity is being tested, and people are posting photos and enjoying each others’. Thank you all for reading, and let’s get into it.

    Gallery Gems

A black and white photo of a man in a suit and a hat, with a guitar slung over his back, looking at a street with buildings, with one large building towering above the rest
Posted by Hexenring in the gallery thread “New to home dev/scan

Managing to get both the featured photo, and catch my eye with this photo, really says a lot about newcomer Hexenring. He has a lovely style here, and a strong subject. The man looks like he is about to storm into that building, and take what is rightfully his. Hexenring also mentioned being new to Instagram, please go ahead and jumpstart his follower count at the link below, so that he keeps posting!

A color photo of a person doing a flip into a large lake off of cliffs
Posted by lil uzi introvert in the gallery thread “Kamenjak nature park, Croatia

Summer vibes? Check. Daring adventure? Check. A beautiful photo of a fun excursion? Precisely. lil uzi introvert has done a great job of showing fun and whimsy in this album, and to me this photo is the perfect example. Please check out his Instagram below.

A black and white photo of a woman, with two disembodied, tattooed hands grabbing her from off-screen. There are smudged fingerprints on the top and bottom of the photo
Posted by Emilio in the gallery thread “Taking Amalia

Emilio mentioned the fingerprints somehow being a lab accident, but frankly they push the image over the top, what a happy accident. A disconcerting portrait, it really shows what it feels like to be a woman sometimes, not just being pulled away, but being completely surrounded by pokes and prods. Emilio’s Instagram is full of amazing photos, check them out!

A color macro photo of a grasshopper on a flower stalk
Posted by Dc5 in the gallery thread “Hillside Gardens (again)

As much as I don’t like bugs, I had to admit this was a very cool photo. The thin slice of focus, with a lovely flower in the background adds wonderfully to the intense and detailed grasshopper. Macro photography is always cool, and this is no exception. Take a look through Dc5’s Instagram in the following link.

A black and white photo of a cowboy with a hot on their knee, reclining on a couch, with a horse arena behind them, with a large American flag on the wall in the distance
Posted by G1TDAT in the gallery thread “Dust and Dreams

Relaxing in a stressful atmosphere seems tough, but this cowboy is doing his best at it. I don’t know anything about these kinds of shows, but he looks like he does, and the composition says a lot about them as well. The flag looms over the arena as the cowboy takes his rest. Find this photo, and more from this show, at G1TDAT’s website below.

A color photo of a record player lit by the sun through a window, with a tall plant to its right, and a smaller plant to its left
Posted by Mymmy in the collaboration thread “Visiting my friend

I genuinely don’t know how to describe this photo, other than that it would’ve gone on my mood board for “How I want my house to look when either my kids move out or I’ve won the lottery.” That being said, the lighting, the colors, and the cozy vibes make this one a winner in my book. Mymmy’s constantly growing Instagram is in the link below.

Ugly Beautiful Vol. 2 – Holga vs. Diana

Managed by Ezo and Hot Pink Bulb

Posted by Ezo in the Gallery thread “Festival with Turquoise and Expired Portra

Coming in strong for team Holga, is Ezo! The extra grainy look on this image doesn’t detract from how hungry the “TACOS” sign has made me, and looks pretty damn cool on top of that. The skull is the icing on the cake. Please check out more Holga vs. Diana shenanigans, and Ezo’s Instagram below!

Posted by Dave M in the gallery thread “Diana Disaster + “Zodiac” Images + trichrome

In the other corner, Dave M’s Diana Trichrome attempt is just wild, and I love to see it. Trichromes always feel like magic, and on a camera like a Diana, it feels even more impossible. Please check out more of Dave M’s work at his website, and follow along both sides for more amazing Holga vs. Diana content

  • One More Blog: Week of 7/7/2024

I’m the_abecedarian, this is One More Blog, and today we blast your eyeballs with some hot pink heat and then gently cool them down to your particular standard body temperature with black and white therapy. We have a huge mix of styles and subjects this week; be sure to click through to see the rest of the artists’ work!

    Gallery Gems

Posted by Willow Sheepster in the gallery thread “some scenes from a trip so far

Pink! So pink, it’s nearly monochrome. This week’s banner image is a simple, domestic scene, but one that makes the tiny details stand out: the reflection, the cloth on the stool, the wallpaper… it is both quiet and striking at the same time.

Posted by Tominabox1 in the gallery thread “Beryl aint got me down

Stuck out in the hot sun, the guard takes shelter in the meager shadow of an empty advertisement frame. The tan tiles evoke a landscape of cracked, dry earth or sand. The large empty spaces between the sparse bits of furniture seem to take an eternity to cross. Our thirsty eyeballs drift upward, toward the striking contrast of the cool water only to be held back by the order: “DO NOT CROSS THE RED LINE”.

Posted by Dawson Leary in the gallery thread “Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-W350

Sometimes an image can reveal something essential about the subject’s nature. This image reveals just how amped up that doggo gets when it sees another dog, a squirrel, a person, or anything else of interest pass by. Dawson Leary achieves beautiful framing of the subject between the curtains, the siding, and those completely devastated shades. The shades further serve to break up the regular angles and straight lines present in the rest of the image.

Posted by Mymmy in the gallery thread “B&W from Öland

While there are tons of photos of jetties and docks, Mymmy here brings us a rarer, almost subverted version of the image. The dock somehow glows and undulates against a dark, smooth sea. The clouds seem to zoom off into the top right-hand quarter of the frame, drawing the eye to a point in tension with the focal point at the end of the dock. The longer you look, the more there is to it.

Posted by Emillio in the gallery thread “Hikayat Kain *(Tale of Cloth): Nameera Thangaraj

Here, Emillio continues his beautiful series documenting the cultural dress of his models. Here, Nameera takes on a formal, almost archaic three-quarter pose, but sits outside the studio, contextualized against the curved shapes of the railing supports. Notice the diagonal of the saree matching the diagonals of the bracelets and contrasting against the other details of Nameera’s outfit.

Posted by Emre T. in the gallery thread “Başka Çözüm Kalmadığında / When There Is No Other Answer (Performance)

Working with dancers, performers, contortionists, and performance artists of all kinds can be incredibly fruitful for a photographer. Here, Emre works with Sude İnce, who performs an exhibition called Yuva (or “home” in English) and adds his own artistic vision to it. The light and movement in the scene are rendered in a gestural, almost calligraphic way, with Sude appearing almost as a written letter or character on an illuminated manuscript.

Posted by eeenmachine in the collaboration thread “Holga vs. Diana: Main Chat

The battle for plastic supremacy continues! Here, eeenmachine takes on Daido-esque levels of grain, blur, and contrast, but carefully maintains the coherence of the image. This impressionistic style negates any technical weaknesses of the camera to provide us with the essence of the scene, rather than a clinical documentation of it.

And that wraps up our blog for the week! Be sure to shake out any film grain that got on you from that last one before you go back inside — it’s like glitter: once it gets in, you’ll never be fully rid of it. Big thanks to all the contributors this week and to you for reading.

First up is our banner image of the week.  The bold letters contrasting with the white wall immediately draws the viewers’ attention while the birds flying near the wires almost look like shoes thrown up and wrapped around the wires.

Posted by Fabri – ig: @fabripav in the gallery thread “Shot some aerochrome in Western Ireland

Next up is one that never fails to impress – an aerochrome shot. An otherworldly magenta balanced with a deep almost purple water really keeps my eyes wandering all over the place.

Posted by LdB in the gallery thread “Ilford HP5

This image has a lot going for it. The grain of the film gives it a softness and grit that really makes it feel somewhat tactile. And the range of tones going from both ends of the photograph lend it a certain balance that’s extremely pleasing to my eyes.

Posted by schnee in the gallery thread “A first attempt at star trails on Kodak Aerocolour

Quite an amazing result for a first try at photographing star trails on film. The trails themselves are great but I feel that the purple in this shot really makes it. And not to mention how the dark silhouette of the trees towards the bottom of the frame give it a nice weight.

Posted by ptr in the photography channel

An interesting moment caught at just the right moment. This one has such a strong subject and with the finger pointed upwards leaves me with a feeling of curiosity as to what could even be up there.

Posted by Dave M in the gallery thread “The Week Off

Welcome to another wonderful week in this community. Lunar here, and I am happy to say we have had a lot of great new members recently! It feels like we’re growing and it feels very organic, and I love it. I hope this blog encourages people to join, or encourages existing members to continue posting their best work! And sign up for new challenges, which you’ll see in this post! Enough words, let’s get into the art.

A black and white photo of a protest to end the atrocities being committed by the Israeli government in Palestine
Posted by Gary Indiana in the gallery thread “TMAX P3200

Protest images are generally very powerful but this one is especially so. To see so many different kinds of people protesting for an important cause is great. The framing is lovely, the grain is to die for, and I appreciate it being shared. Please take a look at Gary’s Instagram below.

Posted by EerieEmilia in the gallery thread “Favorite Landscapes – Critique Requested

A newcomer to the server but one who clearly has skill and an eye for photos. I really enjoyed this set. The light graffiti contrasts well with the blank sky, and overall feels very striking. Industrial works have always caught my eye, and this is no exception. EerieEmilia’s website is worth taking a look through as well!

Posted by Finally Has a Hasselblad in the gallery thread “downtown on Lomo turquoise

Another relatively new addition to the server, Finally Has a Hasselblad’s gallery with Lomo turquoise certainly made an impression. The color palette is very unique, and the building framed by the sky and leaves really stands out. Please check out their Instagram below.

Always happy to get great photos. A bit sad to see the collaboration end, but next we move onto the interview portion.

With another week in the bag I want to reiterate how excited I am for this community to continue to grow, and for the members to continue to grow as artists. Please join if you haven’t, and please keep enjoying the community if you have.

    Until we meet again,

Good Day, Good Morning, Good Evening, wherever you are! Today I, Ezo, will be your guide to all that is good in One More Stop. And since photography is cool and good, we’re going to be busy!

    Gallery Gems

I chose this photo because I love the pastel colors and the big spray of pink flowers in the foreground acting as a lovely subject on an otherwise empty street. Perhaps it was taken when everyone was having an afternoon nap?

This amazing multi-exposure of a tree from Dave M ticks many of my boxes. It’s conceptual, it’s high contrast, and it’s totally unique. Looking more like a rough sketch than a photograph, Dave says he took ten exposures while circling around the tree. I love all the faded details around the tree and the sense of movement the multiple exposures give it. Check the gallery for more great high contrast film shots.

I don’t know the full explanation of the photo here. However, the pose, composition, balance of light and dark, and subjects have a lot to say. Gary took a lot of photos from this demonstration and they’re all great but this is, for me, the banner image. Hit the gallery or his Insta for more great examples.

I chose this photo because I thought it was timeless. The colors, the clothing, the facial hair, even the film format itself makes it nearly impossible to tell when this photo was taken. It could have been taken 5 days ago or 50 years ago. Allacessmorbo has a very interesting style that is completely unique and accessible. I highly recommend checking out the Insta link below.

Boats, black and white, film, high contrast. Need I say more? Jesper took some great shots on his little walk around the village and they all tickle my fancy. I chose this one specifically because if there is one thing I think all film photographers feel a pull towards, it is boats. Take a look at the gallery for the rest!

The Right in Camera collaboration has been carrying on very well with a certain avian photographer absolutely crushing it with psychedelic in-camera adjustments. The latest mini-challenge was using your camera’s max ISO and there were some really incredible examples posted over the last couple weeks. I recommend heading over and seeing what’s been going on and submitting your own. It’s the easiest thing in the world, just get it right in camera!
