  • One More Blog: Week of 10/1/24

Its Wednesday! Which means that we are running late on the blog front, but you get the joy of myself, Jake Pink, jumping in to throw together a blog.

I do of course have to still credit Lunar, who curated and selected this weeks photos.

As we come up to the festive period, it is likely that we might be a little sporadic in a blog posting, but I will try and throw a few odd ball blog posts in to keep us going if nothing else!

Make sure to be kind to yourselves, and give yourselves the space and time that you need over the coming weeks.

Posted by allaccessmorbo in the gallery End of Autumn

From a beautiful set of photos really capturing the feeling of the end of autumn. With remnants of the activities of the month, and a changing of the season.

Love the vibrancy of this photo, the sky set against the trees, really telling the story of the time of the year.

Posted by Fabri in the gallery Back to my Trichrome Habits

Who doesn’t love any of the processes for getting vibrant pink into their photos? As my favourite colour, I always enjoy these.

A technically difficult process, even more so for doing the process on film. With otherworldly results.

My favourite thing about any of the Infra-red processes is that ability to gleam or look into a world we couldn’t otherwise see.

Posted by TR.photo in the gallery thread Iconic

There is nothing more satisfying than putting your own take of a famous landmark into photography. This breathtaking elevated shot, perfectly exposed, with a wonderful glow of night time really does excel.

Posted by Gray in the gallery thread “Some darkroom prints from my show”

Art and photography as a way to process life has always been a key part of our collective. I’ve really enjoyed seeing Gray’s work progress over the past months, culminating in a set of photos with art and mixed media working on top being put up on show.

Satisfying not only for seeing some of the behind the scenes, but to also see it come to a final point in the form of a gallery wall.

We also finished up our Holga VS Diana challenge. Which will feature in its own blog post soon too!

If you have any ideas for new collabs and challenges, do let me know, even if you are not currently a curator, I will get you going so we can start off the new year with some cool stuff.

    Closing,
    Jake Pink

  • One More Blog: Week of 11/24/24

Happy Monday, photographically minded individuals, this was a busy Thanksgiving weekend so please pardon us for a Monday release. This week will be rather short due to the holiday, but next week we hope to cover the Holga Vs. Diana collaboration finale!

Posted by Aidan [developing @aidansciort] in the gallery thread “Campus Protest

Covering such an important protest is hard, but Aidan did it respectfully! Thank you to Aidan for photographing this protest, in support of 4 students who were arrested on his campus for putting up posters that were Pro-Palestine. Please check out his Instagram below.

Posted by blue squares in the gallery thread “Doggy Trot 5k

Photographing several cuties this week, blue squares had this lovely dog, with a shadow selfie to boot! The little guy looks ferocious but pet-able. Please keep an out for more photos from blue squares on the Discord server!

Posted by davesunday in the gallery thread “Mamiya Sunsets

This photo feels iconic, the silhouetted trees, the setting sun, the beautiful water on the horizon, davesunday really knocked it out of the park! Feels like a warm ending to the cold fall I’ve been having. Check out more of davesunday’s work on the Discord!

I hope everyone in the US had a great holiday weekend, and that everyone who doesn’t celebrate still had a great weekend!

  • One More Blog: Week of 11/17/24

Happy Sunday friends, this is Lunar! Winter is on its way, and at least in Pittsburgh, feels like it’s started to come early. Dreary weather outside usually means less photos taken, but I do love the photos we get during this season, especially before Christmas decorations take over. That being said, let’s get into it.

A black and white photo of a snow heart surrounded by candles
Posted by Ezo in the gallery thread “Some things I liked, 11/10-11/16

What’s better than a heart of snow to ring in the season? How about one surrounded by flame, in this case candles. The irony the fragile heart surrounded by things that spell its demise really speak to me right now. Please check out Ezo’s Bluesky for some excellent photography posts!

A color photo of a room with a wooden floor followed bit with some furniture, lit by a window and a small hanging light
Posted by TR.photo in the gallery thread “Spaces…

Perfect lighting, leading lines, great negative space, TR.photo did something genuinely perfect for me here. The post-modern(?) furniture design complement the photo’s color palette so well. I could gush forever, but instead I will just direct you to TR.photo’s Instagram for more.

A black and white photo of a body of water with trees overhanging and a coast in the distance
Posted by tominabox1 in the gallery thread “Carry Every Day

The fact that I can feel the changing of the leaves and the chilling of the air from this photo really inspire me to get out and shoot despite the cold air. This feels like a lovely walk on a day that may be a little too cold to go on said walk. tom’s Instagram is full of great photos so please check it out.

A black and white photo of a radio tower in a city, with a slight double exposure and ghosting
Posted by Dave M in the gallery thread “the cusp of winter

Dave M’s photo feels like it belongs in a behind the scenes documentary for a post-apocalyptic film. The double exposure at the top of the radio tower provides an uneasy feel, and it really seems like it is messing with my head. Dave M has more trippy work to see at his website below!

A color photo of the bottom half of a person in a suit laying through a brick wall that has fallen
Posted by blue squares in the gallery thread “The Wall

The idea that blue squares got thrown through a wall, in some sort of comedic action sequence gives me a chuckle, but I also love the composition of this scene quite a bit! The lack of face adds a bit of mystery, and the damage looks fresh. Please see more of blue squares work in our server!

We’re experimenting with a new format for the blog and would appreciate your feedback on things you enjoy and areas we could improve. Please drop any member of the Curator team a message in #General with your suggestions! If you or someone you know is interested in becoming a member of the Editorial team at One More Blog, please reach out as well as we are looking to expand our process!

We have new collaborations to share along with many, many wonderful photos from our members. Settle in and enjoy!

    Let’s go!

    Collab Updates and News

    2-Bit Clubhouse

This week Hot Pink Bulb restarts the “2-Bit Clubhouse” Game Boy Collaboration and shares many ways for users to contribute (Game Boy, emulators or browser-based 2-bit cameras). Local legend eeenmachine comes out swinging with his tri-color minimalists and abstracts.

    Holga vs. Diana

Ezo reminds us that all submissions for the Holga vs. Diana Collaboration need to be in by the end of the month. Let’s finish out the challenge strong!

    Post a Mirror Selfie Collaboration

Joining what has become an epic 17-month collaboration, new server member revver shares a convex mirror selfie to keep the challenge going. We look forward to seeing what sort of creative selfies you can contribute!

A highlight of each member who contributed to the #Gallery channel this week. To see your work featured here, we ask you to create a new post in the #Gallery channel and show us what you’re currently working on. Thanks to all those who contribute to building this community each week. 💜

    “Woodland wanders” by AON

This week AON shares a wonderful walk in the woods while exploring the area for a Polaroid project in their gallery, “Woodland wanders”.

“This is ART now” by blue squares

In this project, blue squares has turned the everyday blight on the exterior of a local business into art by attaching a custom gallery placard. This could make for a wonderful larger challenge.

    “6×6 Travels” by Dave M

Dave M explores some tasteful double exposures and other pairings in this gallery of 6×6 frames from travels last week. A great way to explore the theme of doubles on film.

“18.12.2024: Black and White” by Emre T.

In this collection, Emre takes a walk in black and white, showing hot spots around Istanbul, life in the arts, and portraits from his daily life. This week, Emre also shared in the #inspo-and-books channel a Zoom conference with a Chinese artist named Ying Ye, who explores the lives of immigrants told with the metaphor of the life of soybeans through her art of cooking in her project, “Burning the Midnight Oil”.

“Some things I liked, 11/10-11/16” by Ezo

If you’re looking for a moment to pause and enjoy the things around you, this is a perfect place. Ezo shares some things they liked during the week which, to this observer, bring about a state of tranquility.

“Views from a short work trip to Riyadh” by fabri

With this showing, fabri brings out the beautiful nature of Portra 160 on Mamiya 6MF during their travels to Riyadh.

“Museum of Liverpool” by Hot Pink Bulb

Hot Pink restarts their custom Game Boy camera project with the challenge of “collecting” museums and galleries. Check out the Collaboration section below for more information about the Game Boy challenge!

    “More Infrared Shenanigans” by kenberry_krunch

Pop into another world with the full-spectrum converted Lumix G3 by kenberry_krunch. These photos capture a surreal look at a tranquil location in shifted color and black and white Inrared.

“The Drunken Railroad” by lil uzi introvert

In Western Croatia a curvy railroad track lends itself to an enjoyable outing for lil uzi introvert and friends to explore with a Nikon F65 shot with Kodak Gold.

“First color home development” by Mymmy

Captured over the weekend, Mymmy sets out to explore using a light meter and calculating reciprocity failure on Ektar 100 with a Fuji GW690ii. These street shots really spoke to me in their raw nature showing the lesser photographed areas of town.

    “Paris People” by Nina

Nina brings us some emotive street captures of the people going about their day in Paris. The colors, compositions and tones add a dramatic underlying story that captivate the eye.

    “21 Pilots Concert” by praetor

When no cameras are allowed, praetor turns to the iPhone to get experimental in black and white during this live performance. Shades of tonality and composition win the day here.

“Holga x sheorun x kitingmare” by Marius & sheorun

Sharing a roll of 120 Cinestill 800T, Marius and sheorun divide the work at an angle between them. With a custom mask, the opportunity for surprising matchups incites the inquisitive mind.

    “181 Fremont” by TR.photo

Sharing a couple photos of this address, TR.photo shows a great way to frame architectural shots downtown.

“Louisiana travels with HP5+” by Will A.B.

Closing out the gallery submissions this week, Will A.B. submits a lovely set of black and white photos from the Pelican State. Compositions tell stories by themselves, and this collection does great work at weaving that narrative.

    Thanks for Stopping By!

Make sure to check out the current collaborations and JOIN IN, also give your fellow friends a follow on their social media accounts and websites. Until next week, stay safe, enjoy some photography and have fun!

  • Editorial: In the Wake of the U.S. Elections

The following post is an editorial from the One More Blog team in response to the 2024 Presidential Election. Our team has spoken over the past week about our thoughts on expressing and reaffirming the core values of the One More Stop Server and planting a firm guidepost for how we are planning to move forward as a community. Our founding blog member and trustee, Lunar, has chosen to share a personal message with you, along with contributing blog editor Owl Eye.

We encourage everyone to read our mission and rules in the #rules channel and reach out to curators or trustees if you have any questions or concerns. Have a great week, friends!

A Message from Our Trustee, Lunar:

“I just wanted to start off by apologizing for not speaking sooner, I needed a few days to think and not react strictly emotionally.

As many of you will know by now, Donald Trump won the 2024 election, and that has me, and I know others here, feeling frightened. I know this isn’t solely a US issue, as the policies and demeanor set forth by his administration has and will effect governments around the world.

Here, in One More Stop, we stand for everyone’s human rights, and we are a safe place for every single person. Regardless of sexual orientation, gender (or lackthereof), race, we want everyone to feel like this is somewhere they can and should be themselves.

This will be a scary time in the United States for at minimum 4 more years, but we’re safe here. You do not need to be afraid of being discriminated against, we do not tolerate bigotry of any sorts.

I am trans-feminine non-binary, and Latine, so I can empathize with a lot of what people are sharing fears about online, I share those fears too. But I trust One More Stop to be a safe place for me and anyone else who wants to participate in this hobby without being harassed.

I’m Lunar, I am a trustee of this community, and I started One More Blog with the idea to uplift members of our community and help to promote each other’s art, and I am so happy we’ve made it this long, writing a post every week to celebrate this community.

Please feel free to reach out to me at any time if you need anything.”

A Message from Our Editor, Owl Eye:

    “Hello friends, photographers, and artists.

My name is Owl Eye and I’ve been a member of One More Stop’s weekly blog team —One More Blog— for the past ten months. It has been a great pleasure to be involved in this experimental project of collaboration, whereby I’ve been able to meet and work with a dedicated team of supportive individuals who have chosen to include curating and editing a weekly project into their daily lives. From my perspective this community has always been a safe place to experiment with new ideas of collaboration and it has been very rewarding to watch a project continue to grow over the past year.

Each day I am reminded that the One More Stop collective is a community that supports others as artists and as individuals as they make their way through their life’s journey. This is a safe place for a diverse group of people and I’m thankful to those members, curators, and trustees who came before me who fought the tough battles of shaping this community into what it is today. Through their hard work and devotion to the mission of providing a safe and inclusive environment for artists to share, learn, and grow, this community is now bearing the fruits of positive change.

While writing this, I also reflected over the conversations I’ve had this week with those people for whom communities like ours are here to protect and provide safe haven for. I am humbled by the stories of those who are looking for places where they can feel safe, and I wish to reinforce my commitment to continue to do everything in my power each and every day to provide an environment where all people are safe and included.

My journeys this week have seen many strong bonds beginning to form between like-minded individuals, and at each point it started with a simple conversation between two people. This isn’t just something you and I are experiencing either. There are many conversations such as these happening all over the country, and beyond, at this very minute. Conversations about who we trust, how we trust, and who we can turn to in times of need.

I am Owl Eye. I’m a cis male and I stand with those who are marginalized or underserved in our community. I stand with women. I stand with mothers and daughters. I stand with the LGBTQ+ community. I stand with minorities. I stand with those with disabilities. I will always fight for you, and you may consider me a friend and ally. Please feel free to reach out to me at any time if you need. Take care of yourselves, have good conversations with your loved ones, and keep your heads held high. We are in this together!”

    Hello photographers and artists!

Welcome to another weekly edition of One More Blog. As the Northern hemisphere plunges into Autumn, we’re seeing a lot more festive Fall photos of trees changing colors. Southern hemisphere folks should be heading into a beautiful Spring, and we expect to see some wonderful flowering photos as well!

We’d love to see your work in the Gallery as well! Feel free to post individual photos throughout the day to General or Photography channels, and share a collection of your current work to the Gallery in a posting. Even if it’s just one or two photos that you’d like to share for some feedback and interaction with the community, the Gallery is a great place for that.

The General and Photography channels are fast-moving and many of our members miss postings from those channels. To make sure your works get seen by the most members, create a Gallery post so your work is secured in a specific location for many viewers to see it!

A weekend spent with a Z6 in northern New Mexico produced some excellent images. As praetor said in the thread, “that turquoisey-blue feels like the state color sometimes“. And it’s true, it’s emblematic of the region–and these photos pull you right there.

Color film at night can be extremely difficult, and this is tungsten vibe done just right. The grain only adding to it overall. The image above? Reflections and parallels, one side like a rippling wind, the other a night feeling glow.

And to add another sensory layer, Panchromatic.Noise uploaded a recording of the ambient noise. You’re bound to find a favorite one here.

    Holga vs. Diana

Even though they’re using the clearly-inferior and far-more-awful Holga camera, sheorun really made this frame. The circular mask combined with the angles and artificially-straight lines mixed in with succulants. The warm colors, the great greens. Dare I say that it couldn’t have been done better with a Diana? Yeah nah, this round to Holga. Or to sheorun, at least.

Not to be outdone by those who deign to hug their Holgas, Neutrinissimo hit one out of the park for Team Diana with this one. Not only are there some fantastic motion-inducing doubles, but also the plate you see above. Like viewing a flower from the outside, through alien eyes. A foreign chill with a curious mind.
