    This photo screams of yearning, with the shadowed hands reaching for each other. The shadows touching in a way that you can tell the hands weren’t brings a bittersweet feeling. The colors that surround the shadows add a bright warm feeling on top of all of that. Dave M makes some amazingly creating work, his website is a great browse.

    Hello photographers!

    Welcome to another week of One More Blog! My name is Owl Eye and I’m very excited to be back with the blog team. I’ve enjoyed following the growing number of contributors and seeing a snippet into what catches their eye. From the past week I’ve selected six Gems from what turned into a very productive and worthy week of examples.     Ylli shares with us this week a wonderful photo of the National Library of Kosovo. While originally founded in the town of Prizren in 1944, the library was moved in 1982 to this unique building in the city of Pristina, the capital of Kosovo. Croatian architect Andrija Mutnjaković layered the metal “fishing net” over the cubical spaces with domed tops (numbering a total of 99). Two reading rooms of 400 seats total along with an amphitheater and enough room for two million volumes. I encourage you to look into this unique work of art some more. Ylli has done wonders for capturing the emotional impact that must be felt standing in its presence.

    bluesquares took a walk in the woods and came upon some very interesting detail. I’ve personally enjoyed taking photos of plants at this stage of their journey to embrace the full return of the life cycle. Met with wonderful lighting and a dreamily shallow depth of field my eye was captivated for a quite a while.

While last week was devoted to the large format black and white process of capture, this week they bring us color in the digital realm with the Fuji X-Pro2. High-key and low-key portraits are incredibly captivating and I’m always eager to share an intimate setting photo such as found in this gallery.

    Another instance that I love to be able to show, the camera does not make neither the photo or the photographer. Taken on a phone camera, the Pixel 3a, this photo is stunning, and any hardware it was taken with wouldn’t have changed that fact.     Emilio mentioned the fingerprints somehow being a lab accident, but frankly they push the image over the top, what a happy accident. A disconcerting portrait, it really shows what it feels like to be a woman sometimes, not just being pulled away, but being completely surrounded by pokes and prods.     I know this is my own collaboration so it feels a bit weird, but I needed to say how proud I am of the community in embracing my collaboration, and the work everyone has put in. I also needed to highlight this piece of food photography, that has both my mouth watering, and somehow has no post processing work done on it.

I think Ben did a phenomenal job with the 2.35:1 crop, and the saturation is on point.     Blue Squares really impressed me with this shadow selfie with so many light sources. It gives the impression of a silhouette with a high depth of field, since it is such a crisp shadow. The after-image effect of the lighter shadows is also incredible. Thank you Blue Squares!

    Dan Mars’s Youtube

    I’m so glad it’s Sunday and we’ve had another beautiful week of people posting and discussing photography! I had such a hard time selecting from all the great photos this week that I ended up choosing more than normal. Please check out Dan Mars’s Youtube channel, as the featured photo is part of a larger work called “Family Trip” which should be arriving this week!     Eirik came in swinging with a great set of cave photos, and this one just takes the cake with the monochrome light, peaking in through the entrance.     This photo would be framed well, and have gorgeous colors without the goose, but the goose provides a compelling subject to go with it. I don’t know where this was taken, but this screams Middle America in the best way possible. Please check out Dave M’s website below to see more work!

    I usually only pull photos from the gallery, but siftu dropped this one in the main photography channel and I couldn’t help myself. The fog is gorgeous, and the two different shades of light peeking through add a lot. I could sit and observe a scene like this for hours.     The straight angle of the light make very compelling leading lines, and the small person in the center of the photo is a great subject. It almost feels like the light is bisected by them.     Started up this week is Tom’s “Post a Shadow Selfie” thread, and it has been a fun thread to keep up with. I always love to see a peek into the photographer via shadows in photos, but I know most people try to avoid them. It is great to see the embraced and done with purpose.     At the end here I need to acknowledge some bad news this week, our collaborator and dear friend Owl Eye has to take a step back from writing for the blog, but let’s all hope things get better for him, and that he can come back and with a vengeance.
