Hello photographers and artists! This is Owl Eye, and we’ve wrapped another week of great progress on the One More Stop server. Holga vs. Diana

    Managed by Ezo

Posted by Neutrinissimo in the collaboration thread “More (mostly terribly underexposed) Diana shots!

Make sure to check out the fabulous contributions that have been made to the Holga vs. Diana collaboration. Neutrinissimo strolled in with a set of hauntingly beautiful experimental shots in this gallery. Abstract, boundary-pushing and filled with character, these photos really capture the essence of this category.

Have an idea for a great new collaboration?

    We’re always taking new suggestion!

Happy Sunday photographers and other art enthusiasts, I hope you’ve been having a lovely week! Summer is almost at a close but that hasn’t stopped our community from creating and posting some very lovely work. Please enjoy these selections, I know I sure did!

    Gallery Gems

A black and white photo of two thorny branches crossed
Posted by Pan in the gallery thread “Jalan jalan vol. empat, di hutan I.

Pan’s whole album has amazing photos of foliage, but this photo highlights something harsher than leaves or flowers. I truly appreciate the beauty in this decision to highlight thorns and spikes rather than solely soft foliage. Please check out Pan’s Instagram for some more great photographs!

A color photo of Yosemite, with a bright blue sky behind it, and green foliage in front
Posted by Blout | IG: jackiethelittle in the gallery thread “Yosemite + Slides

Containing a gorgeous photo of Yosemite with some gloriously saturated colors, I was very excited to see Blout’s Yosemite album. I am also a huge sucker for 1:1 ratio photos, and you don’t get to see landscapes at this caliber often. Blout’s Instagram has plenty more photos to look through, and I encourage you to take a look.

A color photo of shadowed hands reaching for one another in a shimmering rainbow
Posted by Dave M in the gallery thread “A Loveletter to Whitehall

This photo screams of yearning, with the shadowed hands reaching for each other. The shadows touching in a way that you can tell the hands weren’t brings a bittersweet feeling. The colors that surround the shadows add a bright warm feeling on top of all of that. Dave M makes some amazingly creating work, his website is a great browse.

A color photo of a lovely summer view of a mountain range leading to a valley with a body of water and a lit city
Posted by TR.photo in the gallery thread “Mt. Tam

I love a lit city, and I love a mountain, and I love a good bay. All of those things combined make this photo incredibly cool. The horizon is beautiful and makes a beautiful sandwich with the mountainous foreground. TR.photo’s Instagram is linked below, please check it out!

Ugly Beautiful V2 – Holga vs Diana

    Managed by Ezo

An instant photo which is distorted and hard to read, but beautiful
Posted by Elle-Oat in the gallery thread “Solarized Selfies on Lomo Diana Instant

The Holga vs Diana collaboration is continuing at a wild rate, and Elle-Oat’s entry for team Diana is the most striking selfie I’ve ever seen. Physical handling to cause these distortions, the circular framing, and the harsh colors and scars, make this such an incredible photo. Please take a look at Elle-Oat’s photography at their Instagram below.

It has been a busy time for me but I am always happy to make time for this community, and this blog. I love and appreciate all of you for continuing to build this with me.

Hello artists! Owl Eye here, wrapping up another wonderful week of works from our consummate collective of cognoscenti. Looking through the gallery I found an attention to perspective as a theme for the week. With a good perspective we can captivate and direct the attention of the viewer, more than simply chronicling the scene in the moment.

    Gallery Gems

Posted by Pan in the gallery thread “Jalan jalan vol. satu

A breathtaking view from Pan here with great use of perspective giving an illusion of being outside the railing. Leading lines into the corners helps drive the impact of the walkway as the eye travels out into the sunset.

  • One More Blog: Week of 08/18/2024

    Hello photographers!

Welcome to another week of One More Blog! My name is Owl Eye and I’m very excited to be back with the blog team. I’ve enjoyed following the growing number of contributors and seeing a snippet into what catches their eye. From the past week I’ve selected six Gems from what turned into a very productive and worthy week of examples. I encourage you to check out all the members galleries over the past week as I’m sure you’ll agree that One More Stop has a talented collective of members. 🙂

    Let’s begin!

    Gallery Gems

Posted by Ylli in the gallery thread “man, i love eastern europe”.

Ylli shares with us this week a wonderful photo of the National Library of Kosovo. While originally founded in the town of Prizren in 1944, the library was moved in 1982 to this unique building in the city of Pristina, the capital of Kosovo. Croatian architect Andrija Mutnjaković layered the metal “fishing net” over the cubical spaces with domed tops (numbering a total of 99). Two reading rooms of 400 seats total along with an amphitheater and enough room for two million volumes. I encourage you to look into this unique work of art some more. Ylli has done wonders for capturing the emotional impact that must be felt standing in its presence.

You can find more of Ylli’s work in his gallery below:

Posted by bluesquares in the gallery thread “Walked in the Woods”

bluesquares took a walk in the woods and came upon some very interesting detail. I’ve personally enjoyed taking photos of plants at this stage of their journey to embrace the full return of the life cycle. Met with wonderful lighting and a dreamily shallow depth of field my eye was captivated for a quite a while.

You can find more of bluesquare’s woodsy trek below:

Posted by Zantanimus in the gallery thread “Ripples & Roses & Rabbits”

The rabbit is one to always catch my eye. Something about the nature of time always seems to flow through to me when I find them in the wild. Zantanimus created a whimsical world of intrigue as I image the bunny going about their busy day among the roses. Which photos stand out to you in their gallery or Instagram?

Posted by davesunday in the gallery thread “Lomo Turquoise”

Imagining another world, or maybe what this world would look like if our minds rendered wavelengths of light differently than they currently do is something I’m always keen to spend some time on. In this set of Lomo Turquoise photographs, davesunday allows the mind to explore spaces unknown with shifted color chemistry.

Posted by Fabri in the gallery thread “panoramic western ireland”

This soft, ethereal setting in Ireland brings forth a stillness within and Fabri has captured a perfect moment in time. Through the collection of panoramic photos you’re transported to the Irish countryside for a few moments.

Make sure to follow Fabri on Instagram:

Posted by Taury in the gallery thread “Dre”.

Wrapping up this week’s gallery gems we have Taury once more with a great studio portrait set, something we don’t see much of in the galleries. While last week was devoted to the large format black and white process of capture, this week they bring us color in the digital realm with the Fuji X-Pro2. High-key and low-key portraits are incredibly captivating and I’m always eager to share an intimate setting photo such as found in this gallery.

    Holga vs. Diana

Posted by Lithe in the “Holga vs Diana” channel.

While the epic battle rages on between the two iconic film cameras, Lithe has been busy creating unique ways of printing such as this gem.

Check out what else Lithe has been direct printing on in the Holga vs Diana channel:

    The Postcard Project

Postcard from davesunday posted by Ben in the “The Postcard Project”

Ben shares this postcard they received from davesunday.

The collaboration of mailing postcards around the world from our incredible community of photographers is just about wrapping up with some late entries sneaking through, and just as I settle enough to honor a promise made to a member to get a postcard mailed off to them. Thanks for your patience, Ben!

Check out the finishing touches to the project below:

As we close out another week, I wish to thank the One More Stop community for their support and education since joining. The safe, diverse, and inclusive environment has helped me to grow as a person, and as an artist. I am thankful for every member who shares their stories through their artwork and passes along their bits of knowledge and education to me. My hope is that this collective continues to offer a space for artists to engage and expand their talents long into the future and I hope to bring as much as I can to that mission as well. Enjoy the new week and we will see you next time at One More Blog!

  • One More Blog: Week of 08/11/2024

Happy Sunday collaborators, it’s Lunar and I am so excited to be writing again! With all of the writers we have now I feel like I never write anymore. But all of the different opinions and styles have been great for the blog! That being said, let’s head forward into the week’s photos!

    Gallery Gems

A color photo of planes with exhaust smoke flying upside down against clouds and blue sky
Posted by dc5 | IG: mjeffv2 in the gallery thread “Blue Angles

I don’t usually like plane photos but something about this one stood out to me, maybe it’s the contrast of the sky and clouds, with the planes  matching the color of the sky so well. Either way I think it was very well done and you should look at dc5’s Instagram for more hits!

A black and white portrait photo of a man with glasses and a goatee
Posted by Taury | IG: @t0ry77 in the gallery thread “8.10.2024 11.50am

Taury posted this lovely portrait, with a great tone and a super shallow depth of field, and I fell in love with it! It is lit so well, and really blends a modern aesthetic with a classic looking style of photography. Taury’s Instagram is linked below, and you’ll find more impressive photos there.

A black and white photo of a paddle over the water, with a ripple beneath
Posted by Nina in the gallery thread “Pixel 3a

Another instance that I love to be able to show, the camera does not make neither the photo or the photographer. Taken on a phone camera, the Pixel 3a, this photo is stunning, and any hardware it was taken with wouldn’t have changed that fact. Nina shows that the best camera in any situation is the one you have with you. Check out their Instagram below!

    Holga VS Diana

    Managed by Ezo

A long exposure photo of a subway tunnel
Posted by schnee in the gallery thread “First Diana Roll

Coming in hot for team Diana, schnee is rocking his first Diana roll. The subway tube looks incredible in this long exposure, and the blurring gives it such a surreal effect. Please take a look at schnee’s other work in the Discord!

Posted by Ezo in the gallery thread “Sunflowers to the City a Holga Story

Atmosphere is here in force in this photo, with Ezo coming in hot for team Holga. The statue is ominous with the scant lighting, and the cranked grain really says a lot about the deep dark. Please check out the Holga VS Diana Discord threads, and Ezo’s Threads account as well!

Another week come and gone, but another week I find myself filled with joy about our community and the conversations and work we produce.

    Full of admiration,

  • One More Blog: Week of 07/14/2024

Welcome to our mid-July server wrap-up, I’m Lunar, and I absolutely adored the photos posted in the server this week. People are choosing sides on an eternal battleground, creativity is being tested, and people are posting photos and enjoying each others’. Thank you all for reading, and let’s get into it.

    Gallery Gems

A black and white photo of a man in a suit and a hat, with a guitar slung over his back, looking at a street with buildings, with one large building towering above the rest
Posted by Hexenring in the gallery thread “New to home dev/scan

Managing to get both the featured photo, and catch my eye with this photo, really says a lot about newcomer Hexenring. He has a lovely style here, and a strong subject. The man looks like he is about to storm into that building, and take what is rightfully his. Hexenring also mentioned being new to Instagram, please go ahead and jumpstart his follower count at the link below, so that he keeps posting!

A color photo of a person doing a flip into a large lake off of cliffs
Posted by lil uzi introvert in the gallery thread “Kamenjak nature park, Croatia

Summer vibes? Check. Daring adventure? Check. A beautiful photo of a fun excursion? Precisely. lil uzi introvert has done a great job of showing fun and whimsy in this album, and to me this photo is the perfect example. Please check out his Instagram below.

A black and white photo of a woman, with two disembodied, tattooed hands grabbing her from off-screen. There are smudged fingerprints on the top and bottom of the photo
Posted by Emilio in the gallery thread “Taking Amalia

Emilio mentioned the fingerprints somehow being a lab accident, but frankly they push the image over the top, what a happy accident. A disconcerting portrait, it really shows what it feels like to be a woman sometimes, not just being pulled away, but being completely surrounded by pokes and prods. Emilio’s Instagram is full of amazing photos, check them out!

A color macro photo of a grasshopper on a flower stalk
Posted by Dc5 in the gallery thread “Hillside Gardens (again)

As much as I don’t like bugs, I had to admit this was a very cool photo. The thin slice of focus, with a lovely flower in the background adds wonderfully to the intense and detailed grasshopper. Macro photography is always cool, and this is no exception. Take a look through Dc5’s Instagram in the following link.

A black and white photo of a cowboy with a hot on their knee, reclining on a couch, with a horse arena behind them, with a large American flag on the wall in the distance
Posted by G1TDAT in the gallery thread “Dust and Dreams

Relaxing in a stressful atmosphere seems tough, but this cowboy is doing his best at it. I don’t know anything about these kinds of shows, but he looks like he does, and the composition says a lot about them as well. The flag looms over the arena as the cowboy takes his rest. Find this photo, and more from this show, at G1TDAT’s website below.

A color photo of a record player lit by the sun through a window, with a tall plant to its right, and a smaller plant to its left
Posted by Mymmy in the collaboration thread “Visiting my friend

I genuinely don’t know how to describe this photo, other than that it would’ve gone on my mood board for “How I want my house to look when either my kids move out or I’ve won the lottery.” That being said, the lighting, the colors, and the cozy vibes make this one a winner in my book. Mymmy’s constantly growing Instagram is in the link below.

Ugly Beautiful Vol. 2 – Holga vs. Diana

Managed by Ezo and Hot Pink Bulb

Posted by Ezo in the Gallery thread “Festival with Turquoise and Expired Portra

Coming in strong for team Holga, is Ezo! The extra grainy look on this image doesn’t detract from how hungry the “TACOS” sign has made me, and looks pretty damn cool on top of that. The skull is the icing on the cake. Please check out more Holga vs. Diana shenanigans, and Ezo’s Instagram below!

Posted by Dave M in the gallery thread “Diana Disaster + “Zodiac” Images + trichrome

In the other corner, Dave M’s Diana Trichrome attempt is just wild, and I love to see it. Trichromes always feel like magic, and on a camera like a Diana, it feels even more impossible. Please check out more of Dave M’s work at his website, and follow along both sides for more amazing Holga vs. Diana content

Week by week our community grows, and I am so thankful at all the wonderful people who have joined, contributed, and also everyone who reads this blog every week. Thank you so much for everything you all do!

Welcome to another wonderful week in this community. Lunar here, and I am happy to say we have had a lot of great new members recently! It feels like we’re growing and it feels very organic, and I love it. I hope this blog encourages people to join, or encourages existing members to continue posting their best work! And sign up for new challenges, which you’ll see in this post! Enough words, let’s get into the art.

    Gallery Gems

A black and white photo of a protest to end the atrocities being committed by the Israeli government in Palestine
Posted by Gary Indiana in the gallery thread “TMAX P3200

Protest images are generally very powerful but this one is especially so. To see so many different kinds of people protesting for an important cause is great. The framing is lovely, the grain is to die for, and I appreciate it being shared. Please take a look at Gary’s Instagram below.

Posted by EerieEmilia in the gallery thread “Favorite Landscapes – Critique Requested

A newcomer to the server but one who clearly has skill and an eye for photos. I really enjoyed this set. The light graffiti contrasts well with the blank sky, and overall feels very striking. Industrial works have always caught my eye, and this is no exception. EerieEmilia’s website is worth taking a look through as well!

Posted by Finally Has a Hasselblad in the gallery thread “downtown on Lomo turquoise

Another relatively new addition to the server, Finally Has a Hasselblad’s gallery with Lomo turquoise certainly made an impression. The color palette is very unique, and the building framed by the sky and leaves really stands out. Please check out their Instagram below.

Posted by Eeenmachine in the gallery thread “Salk Institute Hasselblad

Eeenmachine keeps doing it, and none of us should be surprised at this point. Sharp lines, great tones, altogether another lesson in how to do photography right. His Mastodon is linked below, and if you aren’t on that platform his work is a great reason to get yourself onto it.

Ugly Beautiful Vol. 2: Holga vs Diana

    Managed by Ezo

Posted by Ezo in the holga-vs-diana thread “Holga vs. Diana: Main Chat

Ezo and HotPinkBulb are duking it out in this team based shooter. Shooting with cameras of course! Two classic, iconic, and as some would say, horrid toy camera brands, two teams pledging allegiance to one, all to see who can take the most beautiful ugly photos. I am excited for this to kick off, and I am signed up on team Holga. Check out more about it, and sign up at the link below.

    Right In Camera

Posted by Blue Squares in the collaboration thread “Right In Camera

Today the Right In Camera challenge comes to a close, but Blue Squares submitted a panorama that just had to be seen. A great perspective of an intersection on a beautiful street. Always happy to get great photos. A bit sad to see the collaboration end, but next we move onto the interview portion.

With another week in the bag I want to reiterate how excited I am for this community to continue to grow, and for the members to continue to grow as artists. Please join if you haven’t, and please keep enjoying the community if you have.

Hello, and welcome back to our cozy little blog for the first week of June! I am your captain this week, Lunar, and I wanted to make a quick shoutout for Pride month, and say that I am proud of everyone in our community for continually supporting the rights of everyone else in the community. That being said, let’s jump into this week’s photos!

    Gallery Gems

A black and white photo of a World War 2 reenactment where a man is firing a period appropriate flamethrower
Posted by Chris Hernandez in the gallery thread “WW2 reenactment photos”

Prior to seeing Chris’s work I did not imagine how incredible reenactment photos could look, but I was blown away when I saw the gallery posted. It is crazy to know that is a working flamethrower, and not post-processing or special effects. These events seem intense, and it is great to see work from such a great photographer. Take a look at more work on Chris’s Instagram.

A photo of a city skyline covered in fog or mog
Posted by Mymmy in the gallery thread “Thailand & Cambodia”

Mymmy continues to post hit after hit, and this week is no exception. The dreary look of the city in haze, the dreamy feel of the photo, and the distant skyscrapers all come together to make me think of dystopia and apocalypse. Give Mymmy’s work a further look at his Instagram!

A photo from the mountain Helvellyn with dark clouds and a green mountain
Posted by LdB in the gallery thread “Helvellyn”

With a view as great as this, I can see why LdB hiked up this mountain. The bright foreground leading into the shadowy, almost stormy background feels adventurous. I love LdB’s work, and could keep gushing about it forever. Find more at his Glass profile below.

    Right in Camera

    Managed by Lunar Hades

I know this is my own collaboration so it feels a bit weird, but I needed to say how proud I am of the community in embracing my collaboration, and the work everyone has put in. I also needed to highlight this piece of food photography, that has both my mouth watering, and somehow has no post processing work done on it.

A black and white photo of a building framed by foreground trees
Posted by NimbleDave in the collaboration thread “Club f/64”

Club f/64 is a collaboration that takes plenty of time, high quality work, and high quality prints, and Dave has produced a result which I feel embodies the mission of the collaboration. Every part of this image is sharp and in focus, and not only that, but the tones and shadows are delightful too. Check out Dave’s Instagram!

    The Postcard Project

    Managed by sheorun

A photo of postcards on a green workspace
Posted by sheorun in the collaboration thread “The Postcard Project”

I am very happy to highlight sheorun’s Postcard Project this week, because not only is it a massive undertaking on sheorun’s part, it is an incredible community effort to share the joy in one’s work, and get a physical piece, made with love and care, from another member. Please take a look at the thread for the rules as well as instructions on how to make a postcard, and then sign up for the exchange with the link below!

Posted by Ben in the gallery thread “Right in Camera – Walk around town in 2.35:1”

I did everything in my power not to solely choose photos from my “Right In Camera” collaboration this week, but I had to let this one slip through. I think Ben did a phenomenal job with the 2.35:1 crop, and the saturation is on point. It looks like a nice day to be outside taking photos, and I hope you take a look at Ben’s Instagram below for more good shots.

Posted by eeenmachine in the gallery thread “Chicano Park & Park West Hasselstax”

Eeenmachine has been popping in lovely instant photography consistently for months, but this one really caught my eye. The amount of detail captured really helps show off how great instant photography can look given the right amount of care and equipment. Please check out eeenmachine’s Mastodon for quality work!

    World Pinhole Day

    Managed by Ezo

Posted by Ezo in the gallery thread “Worldwide Pinhole Photography Day”

World Pinhole Photography Day was this past weekend, and I think this post from Ezo exemplifies what can be great about pinhole photography. A stunning panorama taken with a pinhole camera, with such great black and white tones. It truly feels like looking into the past. Please check out more of Ezo’s work below, and also post some photos you might’ve taken on Worldwide Pinhole Photography Day once you have them developed and scanned!

    Post a Shadow Selfie

Posted by Blue Squares in the gallery thread “Post a Shadow Selfie photo thread”

Blue Squares really impressed me with this shadow selfie with so many light sources. It gives the impression of a silhouette with a high depth of field, since it is such a crisp shadow. The after-image effect of the lighter shadows is also incredible. Thank you Blue Squares!

Thanks again to everyone who makes this community amazing to be a part of, and I am eternally grateful to be able to write this blog for everyone to show off this work. Have a great beginning of Spring everyone!

I’m so glad it’s Sunday and we’ve had another beautiful week of people posting and discussing photography! I had such a hard time selecting from all the great photos this week that I ended up choosing more than normal. Please check out Dan Mars’s Youtube channel, as the featured photo is part of a larger work called “Family Trip” which should be arriving this week! With that being said, let’s dive into the rest of our gems.

    Gallery Gems

A landscape photo taken from inside of a cave, with sunlight peeking through the entrance.
Posted by Eirik (@0Eirik) in the gallery thread “Went cave exploring today, and the photos turned out pretty good!

Eirik came in swinging with a great set of cave photos, and this one just takes the cake with the monochrome light, peaking in through the entrance. It feels classic, but adventurous, and fills me with excitement for a delve into the unknown. Please take a look at more of Eirik’s work on his website listed below.

A square photo of a store called Victor's, with a bird standing in front of it in the parking lot.
Posted by Dave M in the gallery thread “Running Around + E6

This photo would be framed well, and have gorgeous colors without the goose, but the goose provides a compelling subject to go with it. I don’t know where this was taken, but this screams Middle America in the best way possible. Please check out Dave M’s website below to see more work!

A landscape photo of a fog rolling over trees, with a few tree tops exposed.
Posted by siftu in the Photography channel

I usually only pull photos from the gallery, but siftu dropped this one in the main photography channel and I couldn’t help myself. The fog is gorgeous, and the two different shades of light peeking through add a lot. I could sit and observe a scene like this for hours. Please check out sitfu’s website below for some more excellent work.

A polaroid diptych of a hand in one photo, and flowers in another.
Posted by Lampy | IG: @grahmattical in the gallery thread “Diptych

Look, I don’t know how Lampy made this diptych inside of a Polaroid, but I think it is incredibly creative. It shouts “disconnected longing” and isn’t afraid to be seen. Lampy’s Instagram is full of great work, so please check it out below.

A landscape photo of a parking garage, with a person standing in the center, with shadow at straight angles evenly on both sides.
Posted by remii in the gallery thread “Hello! B&W from Feb

The straight angle of the light make very compelling leading lines, and the small person in the center of the photo is a great subject. It almost feels like the light is bisected by them. Remii just joined the community and has already contributed some great stuff. Please check out his Instagram below!

Posted by eeenmachine in the collaboration thread “2-Bit Clubhouse

The 2-Bit Clubhouse keeps on rolling, and it feels like amazing photos are getting posted every day. Eeenmachine rocked the colors and framing on this car, and the rest of the photos getting posted are all of equal thoughtfulness and quality. Please check out the collaboration thread! Eeen has requested we link to Owl Eye’s Zine, instead of any social media of his own, so please take a look at it, and support Owl Eye is you find it as amazing as I do.

A landscape photo of a suburban street, with a fire hydrant, as well as the shadows of the photographer and a stop sign.

Started up this week is Tom’s “Post a Shadow Selfie” thread, and it has been a fun thread to keep up with. I always love to see a peek into the photographer via shadows in photos, but I know most people try to avoid them. It is great to see the embraced and done with purpose. Please check out Tom’s Linktree below.

At the end here I need to acknowledge some bad news this week, our collaborator and dear friend Owl Eye has to take a step back from writing for the blog, but let’s all hope things get better for him, and that he can come back and with a vengeance. We appreciate all you’ve done, and hope for the best for you.

    With a heavy heart,
